George Stowell Died On Dec. 14 In Syracuse

Herman — George N. Stowell, 67, died Sunday evening (Dec. 14, 1969) at the Veteran’s Hospital in Syracuse, where he had been a patient for three weeks. The funeral was Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Henry’s Church, DeKalb. W Burial was in St. James Cemetery, Gouverneur.

Surviving are his widow, Genevieve, three daughters, Linda and Lyda, at home and Mrs. Glenn Grace Ricket, Heuvelton; three grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Brown, Gouverneur, Mrs. Vaughn Haddie Crump, city, and Mrs. Bertha McGinnis, Carthage; four brothers, Leonard of Normandy, Tenn., Harry of Canton, and Roy and Earl, Hermon.

Mr. Stowell was born in Fowler, June 4, 1902, a son of the late Elias and Florence Clark Stowell. He attended Gouverneur schools and resided in Gouverneur, Hermon and Heuvelton. He was married to the former Irene Carpenter and later divorced. On July 9, 1949 he married the former Genevieve Brunet at Edwards. He was employed for many years as a truck driver by W.A. Scott, Gouverneur. His last employment was as a bus driver for Hermon – DeKalb Central School. He retired five years ago due to ill health.

Mr. Stowell served in the Army during World War 2 and is a member of St. Henry’s Church, DeKalb.
